Nosferatu Link

Here's the link to the film NOSFERATU for you to watch.

Please make notes as you watch and, as before, record your initial response to the film before you start finding anything out about it.

Blog your thoughts....

Find out about Expressionism and create a detailed blog post with images and your own response to the movement. It needs to be clear and concise but reasonably comprehensive - a few sentences and two pictures won't do it. It needs to be about the main ideas behind the movement, it's brief history and several examples with some commentary, including your individual response to the expressionist tradition

WORLD CINEMA Begins!

Hi All!

You will be starting/have started your units on World Cinema and Spectatorship Topics. You will be doing German Expressionism and Soviet Realism with Mrs Thrasher and Cinema and Emotional Response with Mrs Raji.

There will be a separate blog for the German Expressionism Information but the worksheets and homework will all be here so you need to watch them both...the German Expressionism blog will be a Welling Blog of course and linked here.

Your task for your first WC lesson is as follows:

1. Spend 15 minutes writing up your personal and initial response to watching "Das Cabinet Des Dr Caligari" and post it on your new blog.

after that

2. Create a BLOG for World Cinema

3. Read the handout on the first moving pictures. Using either paper and pens OR the computer (or both) devise an A3 poster on the information contained in the leaflet but aimed at a more modern audience of film students aged 14-19.

FOR RESEARCH AT HOME:

Find out the basic information for the film - start with IMDB.COM and see what you can find out about the film. Post your findings/information about DCDC there - don't just copy wholesale, choose relevant details (or what YOU feel are relevant details).

Start to find out some stuff about the 'normal' cinema of the time...research into Harold Lloyd. Find some clips from his films on youtube - choose TWO and link them onto your blog, writing up your thoughts about cinema in the early twenties - what was it like in terms of the viewing experience? What are the differences for you as a viewer compared to modern film?
How do you think contemporary audiences felt at the time? BLOG IT.
Give Mrs Thrasher your new blog address. Please also use wikipedia.

Access your school work from home!

You need to be using a PC - this will not work on a mac - shame :-( - then go to THIS LINK and download the program called 'Ranger Outpost Client'. It is a small program and there is a manual too.

Week One - starting your creative project

I've given out the outline for the course and a booklet with the forms you'll need to structure your production work. It's an open brief so bear in mind WHERE you can film, WHO is available to you and any SPECIAL shots you want to use before deciding on your pitch and treatment.

Once you've decided on an idea, follow through the production stages carefully and you should have no problem getting your through your work with minimal hassles.

You need to link to SCRIBD to find copies of the paperwork to download. This is set up but forms are in the process of being added so be patient. If there's a form you can't find, just email me and I'll get it sorted. My email is my name and initial (thrasherj) followed by the usual welling.bexley etc etc.

Welcome 13c1

Okay guys, this is the first post on our class blog. Mrs Raji and myself will post class specific work here. Links for general film will be on the main yr 13 film blog. The links are in the sidebar.

ENJOY!
